Lessons from Challenges: Reflections from SkillHer Members

As 2024 comes to an end, the SkillHer community reflects on the trials and triumphs that shaped the year. Here, we share the stories of some inspiring community members who turned challenges into lessons and growth as shared in a recent community activity.

Proving Capacity Despite Doubts

This year, one member navigated the doubts of those around her as she juggled a full-time job and a growing business. The skepticism came in many forms—side comments, questioning looks, and outright disbelief in her ability to manage both responsibilities. According to her:

“People constantly asked how I could possibly balance it all. Their doubt wasn’t easy to face, but it became my motivation. I didn’t argue or try to convince anyone—I let my work speak for itself. Showing confidence and delivering results reminded me of my own capacity and pushed me to keep going.”

Her experience is a testament to the power of believing in yourself and letting action silence the noise.

Scaling Through Adaptability

Another member, a food entrepreneur, shared how she learned to navigate the complexities of managing her time, improving her recipes, and differentiating her food business in a competitive market.

“Managing my time effectively while scaling my food business was tough. I worked hard to perfect my recipes, cater to diverse customer preferences, and keep my brand unique. It wasn’t easy, but these challenges taught me how to adapt, plan better, and budget wisely. They’ve now become my strengths.”

Through hard work and a willingness to adapt, she transformed obstacles into opportunities, emerging as a more efficient, tech-savvy, and successful business owner.

Standing Firm in Your Worth

Another lesson shared came from a community member who found herself at a crossroads in her business as she began attracting a new audience. While this growth was exciting, it came with its own set of challenges—potential clients who undervalued her work or demanded she prove herself before paying what she was worth.

“I had to make a tough decision: lower my prices to accommodate these clients or stand firm in my value. I chose the latter. If someone wasn’t willing to pay, I let them go and focused on those who respected my expertise. It wasn’t always easy, but it was the right decision for my long-term growth.”

Her story is a reminder that staying true to your value not only protects your confidence but also attracts the right opportunities.
