Dr Maryam Zacharia: Channeling a Passion for Education, Health and Entrepreneurship into a unique professional advancement path Dr Maryam joined Skillher as a youth corper serving at the VTH, University of Ibadan with a dream of advancing her studies and nurturing her aspirations to become a notable voice in the Public Health community. After her NYSC, she’s been able to secure herself a post-NYSC job, a fully funded masters program, as well as an opportunity to cultivate her interest in entrepreneurship and education through a unique role as a school overseer and administrator. Every year on June 12th, Nigeria celebrates Democracy Day, a significant date that commemorates the country's return to civilian rule and honors the democratic spirit that Nigerians hold dear. This day is more than just a public holiday; it is a symbol of the country's enduring struggle for freedom, justice, and democratic governance.  The Historical Context  The significance of June 12th dates back to 1993, a watershed year in Nigeria's political history. On this day, Nigeria held what is widely regarded as the freest and fairest election in its history. Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, a businessman and philanthropist, won a decisive victory.
