Kicking Off with Intention: Highlights from the SkillHer SAW Facilitators Workshop

The SkillHer Skills Acquisition Workshop (SAW) officially kicked off with a power-packed session designed for the incredible crew behind driving learning outcomes: our facilitators. Before the main participants even step into their sessions, we gathered the minds and hearts shaping the experience for a deep-dive workshop that set the tone for what’s to come.

This wasn’t just a warm-up, it was a strategic launch into what promises to be an impactful learning journey for every woman joining SAW. Through two focused sessions, our facilitators explored how to teach not just effectively, but intentionally.

The experience began with a virtual introductory session, where facilitators received an overview of SAW’s core objectives and reflected on what truly makes a learning session great.

Two days later, we gathered in person for the physical workshop, structured around two key themes:

Theme 1: Training Needs Analysis and Learning Objectives

We started by revisiting the fundamentals: What do our learners truly need?

Facilitators were introduced to tools and frameworks for conducting a training needs analysis: critical for identifying gaps in knowledge, skills, and behavior. From there, the session transitioned into crafting clear, measurable learning objectives to guide both the content and the learning experience.

Theme 2: Understanding Learning Styles in Facilitation

The second session spotlighted the diverse ways learners absorb and engage with content. We explored four major learning styles—visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and reading/writing—and examined how facilitators can adapt their methods to meet each style effectively. The session balanced theory with practical approaches to help facilitators build inclusive, dynamic, and learner-centered sessions.

As we prepare for the full rollout of the SkillHer SAW, one thing is certain: our participants are in for a treat. With facilitators who are not only passionate but now better equipped, every session promises to be engaging, relevant, and truly empowering.

To all our facilitators and special partners, thank you for showing up with such energy, commitment, and clarity. The ripple effect begins now, and the SAW journey is only just getting started.
