Shaped by Experience: The Next Chapter of SkillHer Coach

When we introduced SkillHer Coach, our goal was never simply to build another AI tool.

We were responding to a challenge we had seen repeatedly through our work at SkillHer. Across workshops, community conversations, mentorship sessions and programmes, one thing became increasingly clear: while learning opportunities are important, what many women need just as much is consistent guidance between those moments.

Questions don't only arise during a training session. They come afterwards.

How do I prepare for an interview I wasn't expecting?

How do I stay motivated when progress feels slow?

How do I balance personal wellbeing with growing responsibilities?

Where do I even begin?

SkillHer Coach was born from the belief that support should be available whenever those questions arise, not only when a programme is running or a mentor is available.

Since then, we've continued learning alongside the women who use it.

One of the biggest lessons has been that growth is rarely linear. People don't simply move from learning a skill to achieving a goal. They navigate uncertainty, changing priorities, moments of confidence and moments of doubt. Their needs evolve, and so should the tools designed to support them.

We've also seen that conversations extend far beyond careers. Women ask about confidence, productivity, wellness, entrepreneurship, communication, leadership and navigating everyday decisions. These interactions have reinforced something we've always believed: meaningful empowerment is holistic.

These insights have challenged us to think differently about what SkillHer Coach can become.

Rather than viewing it as a standalone product, we increasingly see it as an extension of the broader SkillHer journey. Whether someone has just completed a Skills Acquisition Workshop, joined our community for the first time, participated in one of our events or is simply exploring new opportunities, SkillHer Coach has the potential to provide continuity long after those moments end.

That vision is shaping the next phase of its development.

As SkillHer continues to grow through new partnerships and collaborations, we're also investing in making SkillHer Coach more intuitive, more personalised and more responsive to the realities of the women we serve. We're excited to be taking this next step with the support of our partners at TIC Africa, whose collaboration is helping us strengthen the platform and accelerate what comes next.

While there's still plenty of work ahead, we're encouraged by the direction we're heading.

Our ambition has never been to replace mentors, facilitators or community. Those human connections remain at the heart of everything we do. Instead, we see SkillHer Coach as a companion that helps extend those experiences, making guidance more accessible between programmes, beyond events and throughout everyday life.

In many ways, this next chapter isn't just about improving technology.

It's about improving continuity.

It's about ensuring that every woman who engages with SkillHer has a place to return to when she needs encouragement, clarity, practical guidance or simply a reminder that growth is a journey, not a single event.

As we continue building, we'll keep listening, learning and evolving alongside our community because the best solutions aren't built in isolation, they're shaped by experience.
