SkillHer SAW Wraps Up With High-Impact Capstone Projects & Government Commitment

After weeks of immersive learning and hands-on workshops, the SkillHer Skills Acquisition Workshop (SAW), in collaboration with dRPC, supported by the Ford Foundation, ended on a high note with a Capstone Showcase that highlighted the creativity, teamwork, and growth of our participants.

This year’s challenge featured three practical tracks, each designed to help women apply their new skills to real-world situations.

Track 1: Project Management & Research — 1st Place

Participants researched potential partners/supporters, designed a SkillHer-aligned mini project, and began early implementation during the workshop.
Their clarity, structure, and execution readiness earned them 1st place and the top cash prize.

Track 2: Web Development — 2nd Place

Using their newly learned skills, Track 2 participants built a simple website for the SkillHer SAW program, showcasing its objectives and participant activities.
Their clean and functional build secured 2nd place.

 Track 3: Social Media & Design — 3rd Place

Participants developed a mini visibility campaign plan for SkillHer and dRPC, including post samples, visuals, and a basic content plan.
Their creative concepts earned them 3rd place.

Judges & Recognition

The projects were evaluated by representatives from:

  • Oyo State Student Affairs

  • Ministry of Youth & Sports

  • University of Ibadan Student Affairs

  • A JCI-Certified Facilitator/Trainer & Career Consultant

All winning tracks received cash prizes in recognition of their work.

Government Commitment to Further Collaboration

One of the most exciting outcomes of the capstone event was the commitment from government representatives to build on the winning projects and explore deeper collaboration with SkillHer.

This commitment signals strong possibilities for:
  • Extending the mini projects into broader community programs
  • Creating new opportunities for young women to apply their skills
  • Strengthening partnerships that amplify SkillHer’s mission across Oyo State and beyond

A Powerful Close — And A New Beginning

As the SkillHer SAW comes to a close, the capstone projects stand as proof of what can happen when young women are given knowledge, community, and a platform to express their potential. The outcomes weren’t just presentations — they were prototypes of impact.

With renewed partnerships and the momentum of these accomplished participants, SkillHer is set for an even greater next phase.
