From Conversations to Growth: The Journey with SkillHer Coach

Every journey starts somewhere.

Sometimes, you know exactly where you are going. Other times, you simply know that you are ready to move, even if you are still figuring out the destination.

And sometimes, what you need most is a good coach.

Someone to help you pause, ask the right questions, see things differently and find your next step.

That was the idea behind SkillHer Coach.

We wanted to create an AI-powered system where women could access personalised support around some of the things that shape everyday life: wellness, career and business. A coach they could return to when they had a question, needed to think something through, or simply wanted a little guidance along the way.

The first version was intentionally simple. At its heart was the conversation: you came in, chose an area of interest and started talking with the Coach.

And that was a meaningful place to begin.

But the more we thought about the women we were building for, the more we realised that a conversation, however useful, is only one part of the journey because growth rarely happens in a single conversation.

You may need to learn something new. You may need a resource to help you practise it. You may need a community around you. You may need an opportunity to put your new skills to work. And sometimes, you simply need somewhere to keep track of where you are and where you are going.

So we began to imagine SkillHer Coach differently.

Not just as a coach you speak to, but as a space that helps move you forward.

That thinking is at the heart of the new SkillHer Coach experience.

Making more room for the journey

The upgraded platform brings together more of the things that can shape a woman's growth journey.

The experience now extends beyond the chat, with clearer pathways into wellness, career and business, alongside personalised coaching modules covering areas such as mindfulness, self-care, confidence, negotiation and strategic networking. 

We are moving from simply asking “What does she want to talk about?” to thinking about “What might help her take her next step?”

That next step might be learning.

It might be reflection.

It might be completing an assignment or participating in a programme.

It might be discovering an opportunity she would not otherwise have found.

And increasingly, SkillHer Coach is designed to make room for all of these.

From learning to possibility

This is particularly important when it comes to opportunities.

Learning is valuable, but we don't want the journey to end with “Congratulations, you completed the module.”

What happens next?

The upgraded experience introduces an opportunities space where users can explore jobs, internships, scholarships and grants. 

Because sometimes the most important part of learning is discovering what that learning makes possible.

A new skill can open a door.

A new connection can change your direction.

A little more confidence can make you apply for something you might previously have overlooked.

We want SkillHer Coach to increasingly help women make those connections between where they are, what they are learning and where they could go next.

A journey that feels like yours

The experience is also becoming more personal.

The upgraded participant space brings together a user's profile, programmes, schedule, resources, quizzes, assignments, cohort, opportunities and AI Coach. It creates a place to return to, rather than simply a tool to visit.

And that distinction matters, because when you are on a journey, context matters. You want to know where you started, what you are working on, what is coming next and what possibilities are ahead.

SkillHer Coach is beginning to create that kind of space.

And no journey happens alone

There is another important part of this evolution.

While the participant remains at the centre, meaningful learning is never only about the participant.

There are facilitators creating experiences, programme teams coordinating them and communities making them richer.

So the platform has grown in that direction too, introducing dedicated experiences for facilitators and administrators, with tools to support programmes, sessions, resources, assignments, quizzes and attendance.

The result is a Coach that is becoming part of a wider learning ecosystem.

Not just a system you talk to.

A guide that can sit alongside you as you learn, participate, connect and move forward.

We are still moving

Perhaps the most fitting thing about all of this is that SkillHer Coach is still on its own journey. We've made remarkable progress in this phase, thanks to our partners at Tech Impact Club Africa. This is however not the final destination.

We are still listening, testing, learning and figuring out what meaningful support should look like for women as their needs evolve and technology continues to change.

But when we look at the journey from where we started to where we are now, one thing feels clear.

We started with a conversation.

That conversation opened the door to something bigger.

A place to learn.

A place to explore.

A place to find opportunities.

A place to keep moving.

Sometimes, you don't need to know exactly where the journey will take you, you just need a good coach, a place to begin, and something that helps you keep moving towards the next remarkable destination.

That is the direction we are taking SkillHer Coach.

From conversations to growth.
From a coach you talk to, to a space that carries you forward.
